Travel Essentials: Little Luxuries

Traveling isn't always all it's cracked up to be especially when your hotel is less than steller. Whether it's because of a business trip or because you're just trying to save a little cash (hey, we get it!), hotel rooms can be kind of depressing. Call us neurotic, but after we check under the mattress for signs of bed bugs and toss off the bedspread (we hear they never wash those- eek!), we are ready for something that reminds us of home. Whether you're on the plane or stuck in a hotel, treating yourself to some little luxuries will help you relax and enjoy yourself. You deserve it!

Little Luxuries for Traveling

Who says you can't pack your own amenities? Pretend you're staying at a 5 star joint and treat yourself to fancy bath products, artisan teas, and chocolates on your pillow

Bath salts are the perfect alternative to liquid bath products if you're flying with a carry on. Pack a few Zipoc baggies of ones in different scents if you like to change it up.

A mini travel candle is perfect to freshen up any hotel room.  Choose one with a lid which not only protects the wick, but also prevents spills inside your bag.

Bring along a few flavors of your favorite tea. We have yet to stay in a hotel that doesn't provide an in-room coffee maker. Heat up the water sans grounds and steep your own tea. We like herbal flavors which are naturally caffeine free- mint is refreshing while camomile is soothing.

Whether it's a mini box of your favorite truffles or individually wrapped pieces of dark chocolate, indulging in one piece each night will feel special. Try to refrain from eating the whole box on the first night- we know it's tempting!

A travel speaker or iPod deck means you can listen to all your favorite tunes, or even play some white noise to drone out hotel sounds whether it be your annoying neighbor, construction, or traffic. If you really want to go all out pack your own bedroom slippers and a lightweight throw, you'll feel right at home.

Bon Voyage!
